Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Below are a list of commonly asked questions and answers. Click the question to reveal the answer.

I just incorporated a business. Do I need a designated accountant?

In most cases, you would not need a designated accountant immediately. A designated accountant will be helpful as your business grows into a much larger entity with higher sales and a large number of employees, but that will probably not be the case for a few years.

Why should I choose Sherwood Corporate Services over another competing service?

Sherwood Corporate Services was started several years ago by a chartered accounting firm specifically to give better service and value to smaller businesses. Sherwood is operated and managed by highly skilled bookkeeping personnel who are accustomed to high standards of professional service by virtue of their relationship with the founding firm.

I have several years of bookkeeping to catch up with. Can you help?

We conduct one-on-one assessments to determine the needs of each client to determine an appropriate course of action. We think it’s particularly important to get caught up in these circumstances, because you may be exposed to hidden risks and liabilities. Yes, we can get you caught up and keep you current.

I do my own bookkeeping but would like someone to look over what I’ve done on a monthly basis. Do you provide this service?

Yes, we provide daily, weekly or monthly services to suit your specific requirement. It has been our experience that, in time, clients realize the value of having Sherwood provide complete administrative and bookkeeping services so they are freed up to focus on growing the business.

My year-end is approaching. I use a chartered accountant but was wondering if you could help me assemble the information I need?

At Sherwood we are accustomed to preparing accurate financial statements and supporting documents for accountants, banks or investors.

How would a financial system help me?

Financial systems automate processes and help ensure accuracy. One of the best benefits of financial systems is their ability to generate customized financial reports that provide current management information for your business.

How can I best use your services?

This is something we can’t know until we meet with you to learn more about your situation. However, it’s fair to say that our relationship will evolve to become more effective, and easier for you as time goes on.

Do you charge the same rates as other bookkeepers?

That’s difficult to say, because there is no standardization of rates among bookkeepers. We have established rates that are affordable for smaller businesses, while providing professional services that go well beyond the capabilities of most bookkeepers. In other words, we provide outstanding value for the rates we charge.
